Tunja is a Colombian municipality, capital of the department of Boyacá, located on the eastern Andes mountain range, 130 km northeast of Bogotá. It is the highest capital city in the country.
Tunja has been recognized as an important literary, scientific, cultural and historical center. It is currently considered the University City of Colombia, and is the venue for international events such as the Boyacá International Festival of Culture and the Aguinaldo Boyacense.
