Pereira is the capital of the department of Risaralda and the most populous city in the coffee growing region. It forms the Metropolitan Area of Centro-Occident together with the municipalities of Dosquebradas and La Virginia. Pereira is located in the central-western region of Colombia, in the valley of the OtĂșn River in the Central Cordillera of the Colombian Andes.
