San José de Cúcuta, its official name, is the capital of the department of Norte de Santander, it is located in the northeast of the country, on the eastern Cordillera of the Andes, on the border with Venezuela. It is the economic, political, administrative, industrial, academic, artistic, cultural, sports and tourist epicenter of Norte de Santander. It is located at 320 m.a.s.l.
