Cali is the capital of the Valle de Cauca department, the third most populous city in Colombia and one of the most developed in the southern cone of the Andean region. Its main economic activities are commercial, industrial, tourist and agrarian, which are important for Cali and Colombia.
As the departmental capital, it houses political institutions of the Department, such as the Government of Valle del Cauca, the Departmental Court, the Attorney General’s Office, the Departmental Assembly, as well as other State agencies.
Cali is located in the southern region of Valle de Cauca, between the western mountain range and the central mountain range. The valley is 35 km wide and the urban area is on the western side of the Cauca River, at an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level. It limits to the north with Yumbo and La Cumbre, to the northeast with Palmira and to the east with Candelaria.

Cali has a transportation network that consists of MIO Buses (public transportation system through aerial cables) that connects the Cañaveralejo Terminal with the Siloé sector, in terms of articulated buses it has Masivo Integrado de Occidente, Taxis and also the motorcycle is very common as a means of transport.
In general, it has a good road network, with the initiative of large works such as the World Cup Tunnel, which is the largest tunnel in Colombia with almost a kilometer long and which helps to shorten the south-north route passing through the center.
The Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport connects Cali with the country and abroad with international and national flights.
