Bogotá is the capital of Colombia and the department of Cundinamarca, it is located in the center of Colombia, in the natural region known as the Bogotá savannah. It is the third highest capital in South America at an average of 2625 meters above sea level.
Transportation in Bogotá
Bogotá has connections to almost all areas of the country, for which it has 3 Transport Terminals, with the Terminal de transporte de Bogotá Salitre being the main one.
Terminal del Sur de Bogotá has been operating since 2008 and is located in the southwestern area, where the buses of the Companies that cover the Routes of the southern corridor of the country travel.
Finally, there is the Terminal Satélite del Norte that was inaugurated in 2017 and mainly covers the Routes to the departments of Boyacá, Santander, Tolima, the Caribbean Coast, among others.
In Bogotá, more than 13 million trips are made every day. Most of these trips are carried out by collective (traditional) public transport. The other public transportation system is the TransMilenio Metropolitan Mass Transportation System. Bogotá has two passenger transport terminals.
The city’s airport transports the largest volume of cargo in Latin America, and is the second in number of people. It has to wide cultural offer represented in to large number of museums, theaters and libraries, which has given it the recognition of the “Athens of South America.”
